I had Bill Rudolph custom build this Willy for me about 5 years ago, and it is still practically like new. It is gorgeous and plays like a dream. The 5 + 5 crossover setup equates to 10 + 10 on a normal guitar. The same pedals & knee levers work on either neck, as selected by the crossover lever underneath. So you don't have to move your left foot & knee when you switch necks - C6 is as comfortable as E9! Even with the extra mechanics involved, this steel plays almost as lightly as any other I have known - lighter than many.
My E9 copedant is mostly straight Emmons, with the A-B-C pedals on the middle 3 of the 5. Pedal 0 on the far left drops B's to Bb, and pedal 5 drops G#'s to G. I have F#-G on my vertical KL. E's on the left.
C6 is also pretty standard with these knee levers:
LKL C-C# 3 & 7
LKR G-F 5
LVK A-Ab 4 & 8
RKL C-B 3
RKR A-Bb 4 & 8
I currently have BL 710 pickups on it.
The wood Bill used was a special option called "blistered maple" which is gorgeous. It's a natural finish that has acquired a touch of golden color with time. It has impeccable intonation and incredible sustain.
I have close to $5500 in this guitar, I'm hoping to sell it for $4000. Thanks.

Wow! I tried b0b's Williams D-12 x-over a few years ago, and it was an amazing feat of engineering, sounded great, and was very easy to play. Your Williams is gorgeous Paul, and I'm so sorry you have to sell her off. _________________ E9 INSTRUCTION

I've played this guitar...it sounds, plays, and looks truly amazing...that crossover system is the best.....this one was a real collaboration between Paul and Bill Rudolph, everything is just right, or better.....really special woods used...
if I was a double-neck guy I'd be on it in a second....as it was, after playing Paul's Williams, I went out and ended up with 3 single neck Williams guitars....beautiful design, easy to change, sounds great, and restringing can be done one-handed, very clever all around.. _________________ https://www.lostsailorspdx.com

This guitar is way too pretty to let it slide to page 2 of "for sale"..... _________________ https://www.lostsailorspdx.com

Thanks Steve. It is an amazing instrument. Bill has stopped making the crossovers too. Would make a great late Christmas present. . . |

Where is the crossover shift-lever? I couldn't find it in the undercarriage?
Thanks,

The lever is at the far end from the changer, underneath below the keyheads - on the left end as you are playing. It's an easy 90-degree turn to switch necks. The pickup switch is separate (on top, normal location. . .) |

I am sending this to Bill Rudolph to repair a small bubble that developed in the finish (fortunately on the back apron, right at the edge of the end plate.) He says he can blend it in so it won't be noticeable. At the same time he could do any setup/pickup/etc changes for a prospective buyer and ship it directly to them. $3750 would get it. |

Paul, I sent you a PM regarding an interest in buying this beauty, pending a face-to-face visit. Should be able to arrange this in the next few days, since we are only 10 to 15 miles apart. |
