The 3 spring tanks used a pice of foam rubber above the springs. This will rot over time and deposit a sticky black residue on the springs, resulting in a very bad sounding reverb signal. We have tried to clean these, and to the eye they looked good. Result is always the same, the tank never gets its sparkle back, it is gone!

you can send the vintage US made tanks back to accutronics and they will restore them
they will not restore the new ones
I think its worth it to repair the old ones because they are much more reliable and do sound quite a bit better

Cheaper to buy a new one than to send it to Korea, where they are now manufactured.
The new Accutronics and Mod tanks are both from Korea. So far I have used a lot of them and they are doing very well. |

what I mean is that you can send them to the real US accutronics to be rebuilt. They do it all in the US, but only for the real deal vintage tanks.
you and I both know that the MOD and new accutronics are not in the same class as the vintage ones. The springs on the new ones are held in place with epoxy, which easily breaks along with the wire contained inside. The tank sounds boingy and howls when that happens. I find this to be a more common failure than when the old ones got corroded

| So far no issue with MOD tanks and I have used a lot of them. Also used same of the new Accutronics and no issues. I like the sound of the MOD tanks very muck. |

I know! If you look at a reverb tank, there is not much to it. They can be hand assembled here in the states. I am not sure if its legal to start making them on my own, but I have been talking to some people about it. They would be outrageously expensive if I made them - at least 5 times more than the korean made ones.
