Hi,

I've just received a lift kit from Steel Guitar Nashville for my 2004 LeGrande III. I went for the 8/32 rod extenders after doing a bit of research on this forum and as advised on their site for this model.

The delivery note that came with the lift kit states the extenders are 8/32 but they don't fit. The rods themselves easily fit on their appropriate end on the extender - maybe a little too easily. But the main problem is the other end where the rod extender screws into the coupling bit that attaches to the pedal. The screw bit on the extender side is too big / wide to fit into the pedal coupling bit. They seem to fit my Mullen RP ok which has wider pedal rods.

I assume they sent me a 10/32 kit in error and they are happy to exchange it. But before I shell out on international shipping again I just wanted to check I wasn't missing anything. It's hard to judge but looking at the photos of the 8/32 and 10/32 extenders on their site, mine do look more like the 8/32 style - slimmer. They also mention the extenders have changed from hex to round. I guess this makes no difference?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks!

Steve, the round extenders are a not the George L extenders. Don't know who makes them but they don't work as well . I found that out on some I bought for a Sho Bud from Bobbe.
Billy Cooper's Music in Orange Va. has the George L's and He knows all about Emmons guitars.

Thanks Bill.

I think I'll send them back with a covering note asking that they check what size they are. If they're 10s then a mistake has been made and they can send me 8s.

If they are in fact 8s already then they don't fit LeGrandes and I'll ask for a refund and try some George Ls.

Thanks,

Steve

Not sure what "bit" means, but can't you check this out using 8/32 and 10/32 nuts from the hardware store?

Buy some of these nuts, and find out which ones screw on OK, and this will tell you what thread size you have on your rods, I think...

In the UK, bits is the equivalent of what we Amuricans term as parts I believe.

I don't own an Emmons but surely there's someone on the forum that knows for sure what size LG3 pedal rods are.

Bobbe kindly sent me another 8 rod extenders of 8/32 size free of charge and they fit. Must have been a mistake first time around. Thanks Bobbe!

Sorry yeah for 'bits' read 'parts'. I hadn't realised 'bit' was a British term.

We have the metric system over here. There will be an equivalent of 8/32 and 10/32 but I'm not sure if they will be exactly the same fit.

Anyway thanks for your input and to Bobbe.

Merry Christmas. Very Happy

I have a set of 4 Emmons legs and 8 Emmons rods 1" longer than standard with all hardware but I sold my LeGrande with the original legs. Let me know if you are interested. I think they are in a previous post.
