A Derby before the Big D Logo... I don't think he was the only pro playing them back then... |

Yes, at one time Derby steel guitars didn't have the big D on them. I think Ron Elliott plays a Derby without the D on it and I think steel player Brett Crisp plays or played a Derby without the D on it. In 1998, I thought I saw Robbie Flint playin' a Derby without the big D on the CMA Awards with Alan Jackson. In 1996, I watched Faith Hill's "Let's Go To Vegas" video and Gary Carter, who played steel for Faith at the time played a Derby without the big D on it |

Declan, a friend of mine (Sandy Green) just bought a Derby from Ted, played it when previous owner had it, a great sounding guitar and plays so smoothly. _________________ MSA Millenium SD10, GK MB200, Sica 12inch cab, Joyo American Sound Pedal/ Jay Ganz Straight Ahead amp, Telonics 15inch in Peavey cab, Digitech RP150, Peterson tuner.Hilton volume pedal.Scott Dixon seat and guitar flight case. |

I owned one of the first SD-10 Derby's built (had the D-10 endplate with both cut outs ala most Emmons Legrandes) and it featured the 'Derby' logo in small script with a crown. I believe that at that time Scotty's was the exclusive dealer, great guitar. FWIW: To add yet another name to Brett's list, the steeler for Brooks and Dunn in the early '90's also played a Derby D-10. |
