Hi Reece, I just got a new to me MSA black D-10 from Al Brisco of Steel Guitars of Canada.
Al done a really good job on the setup of this guitar, the lever action is so nice! Al is a real technician at setting up guitars, and a nice guy too!
The serial number 2C868, just wondering if you could give me the date etc. on it would be great. Reece who ever had this guitar before me really treated it well because it is near mint condition and to me sounds just as good alot of guitars being made today. I figure that this model may be an older one because it has the plastic machine heads on it and stickers instaed of the moulded plastic decals.

Mike, I couldn't get very good quality pics, my wife must have the camara in for a lube job getting ready for Christmas LOL. Anyhow theses are the bets I could do with my phone.
I also would like to add that the C6 neck on this guitar is to DIE FOR!!! |

Hey Reese, while you are looking up Quinten's request, please check mine. It was a rosewood D-10 that is long gone but I have never forgotten that the # was 2C897. I bought it from Wayne Stowers at The Music Mart in Smyrna, GA when I was in high school about 1973 I think.

Nice.
The guitar appears to be one of the dieboard/mica guitars produced between 1970 and '75 or 6. That's when they changed the design.
Something to consider doing at some point would be to install one of Tom Bradshaw's raise/lower converters on the 5th string, so the string has 3 raises and 1 lower, and use the 3rd raise to get a tunable split.

Quentin....Serial number 2C868 shows to be a black double 10 which left the factory with 8 pedals and four knee levers. It was originally shipped to Turners Music Store...location unknown. The exact date of completion was not entered into record, however I can say the guitar was completed about the middle of 1973.
You have a beautiful guitar that will continue playing for generations to come. I appreciate your providing it the home it deserves. Merry CHRISTmas to you and yours as well.
Bill C....Serial number 2C897 shows to be a rosewood double 10 which left the factory with 8 and 2 within days of Quentin's guitar. The guitar was first shipped to our distributor at the time, who was located in Chicago. It was then obviously shipped to The Music Mart in Smyrna Ga. Wayne Stowers was a great guy, and sold a LOT of MSA guitars.
