I am asking you all to vote.......Rogue Jersey Lightening or Peavey Powerslide. I will use it for mostly western swing in C6, but may string it up once in a while for D or G tuning. Thanks guys and gals!! Smile

There's a nice looking Dynalap for sale now on the forum.

The string gauges for C6 and Open D or G are not anywhere close to each other......so I think it best if you don't plan on bouncing back and forth between the two due to the string heights (for lack of a correct term) being uneven.

The Powerslide humucker is better suited to Open D/G. Check forumite Steve Cunningham's YouTube postings as I believe he posted some videos using a Powerslide.

For C6, if you can swing the Dynalap mentioned above, that is probably your best bet for good, clear tone for western swing.

If I was gonna vote - based on what you mention - those 2 would be at the near bottom of my list - but you can play good music on either.
I would pick the one with the best resale value cause your gonna want to step up real soon.

Anybody passing up the DynaLap is missing a great sounding steel. If I had the extra $ I'd grab it, and I already have one.

Kevin,

Between the two listed I think the edge has to go to the Jersey Rogue. There have been several comments here in the forum about that guitar as being a good basic starter guitar and gets high praises from Doug Beaumier ( and that is in my mind a big deal) Besides you can get a brand new one on sale for around a $140 bucks or so. From there you can always move up and keep the Rogue for one tuning and the next guitar for another. Good luck and welcome.

Tom
