Can you make it sound less Hawaiian?

Aw, come on, Baz! He has a LONG way to go before he'll come close to sounding Hawaiian, but let's give him some credit for trying. Hey, Dom - try and keep your bar on the strings. Don't lift it, and block with your right hand. That'll make it sound better. - Jack

Actually, (now that it's been brought up) it's not the sound I was intimating at, and not actually directly critiquing, but the lack of correct notation that caught my attention.FWIW

I think that no matter what you capabilities are as a player, the prime thing to consider when playing a tune/song is the melody/lyrics.

Even a rank beginner has no excuse for incorrect melody or words.
But the sentiment is there, so Mele Kalikimaka..

Basil is the man who made me aware on a conscious level of the "folk music process" wherein the original structure of the song (especially chords that are outside the usual 'folk' spectrum - 9ths and 13ths and sus chords and so on) is made simpler and therefore lost. I see it every time I go looking for a tab for a Western Swing or jazz standard - often, all you get are the majors and minors and 7ths, and if you actually sing the melody as intended, it sounds dull because those passing chords that support the melody aren't there! Which then leads to me what I should have done in the first place, which is to figure it out myself. Laughing

That said - I quite like this version! You have a great voice Dom, and the steel is sweet. This is a sort of "tiki" version with a good dose of fromage if I may say so, and it's fun, very appropriate to the season.
