I was just watching the post of Chris Scruggs playing a couple of songs and it was at a bar/club about 40 miles from me. If I had known about it I would have gone.

We need a section where people can post for any group(with steel) that is playing when and where. I'v never heard of the place they were playing. Just an idea.

The description of the Event Announcements section is...

Quote:

Steel guitar shows, concerts, jam sessions, club dates, etc.

That seems like the right place.

Hi Jeff, the event annoucements section has to many topics. Just looking at the first page it's mostly culb meetings, christmas parties. I found two about gigs and would like to see a section just related to lap steel playes.
But I get your point.

Reverbnation has some cool features, like placing gigs on a map. Imagine, if that was part of this site, then you could see, on a map, when and where the gigs are. That's all I know. Just sayin...

about the only way to do this effectively (and i think its a great idea) - is to create a facebook page that people could join and link events.

you arent going to get the Steel Forum to change anything (esp for non-pedal) - its the way it is and like Jeff says, thats what the events section is for.

i knew about this gig because i am a "friend" of Chris' and so his "feed" is linked to mine on facebook. this is how i keep in the loop for bands i follow - if they keep it updated, which they should be doing. facebook is the modern version of going around stapling flyers to poles.
thats actually the only reason i check on fb, and its great for that type of networking. i have heard thru some of the bands, that fb is requiring them to pay a fee now to send their feeds out....

Facebook is getting pretty weird. It has all sorts of tricks and filters to make it difficult to put gig info out now without paying them.
