Hi everyone,

Just installed a Fishman Nashville series pickup to my Dobro. The problem is the Treble side seems to be a lot quieter than the bass side by a long way.

Any ideas?

Chris

I had a Lace Dobro pick up that did that and exchanged it for a new one that works fine.

Two possibilities. Wired incorrectly at the jack or a dead piezo element.

You didn't separate that funky ground band?

ermmm yeah may have done that.

I'll be honest i separated it (thinking it worked a different way) then re-did it when i asked a few friends what they thought was wrong. I had to cut the cable a bit shorter and start a fresh though.

I did have this problem originally when i incorrectly wired it, then i wired it the way it was intend and all seemed fine... now its quite again.

I guess i should take it all apart again really and have a look around.

Is there any hope for me do you think? lol

Very Happy

I think there are pictorial instructions on the Fishman website. It is slightly weird. Both side's ground are brazed together. The jack is a tad odd as well. I forget which tabs are correct. I recall the pictures should make it clear.

I ruined one trying to do it myself. I'd suggest you send it to a specialist. Beard would be best. Uneven piezo signal from string to string is a common problem and I heard that Beard is slaying that dragon now.

Its all sorted now! Very Happy very happy.

One of the shield connections had come off the treble side pickup. some soldiering later and that was sorted, but also had to run a wire from the socket to the spider as it was giving off a horrible earth hum.

Its now fixed and really quiet! Mr. Green
