Somebody had a different buncha thoughts on how to play.
Almost a Bakersfield attitude. Overbey wouldn't surprise me, he occasionally gets intense like that. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

...Well,I guess it could be Pete...Pete is definitely on the song"El Paso City"...you can tell by the 10th string drone...but it sounds like Buddy on"Among My Souvenirs"to me...discuss. |

Wow. I can hear the tone of Buddy, his touch on the strings. But Buddy didn't usually play with that sort of attitude.
I always get more moved by bouts of creativity or expression than feats of technical prowess (I'd rather have someone make me think "how the hell did he think of that?" than "how the hell did he make his fingers move like that?"), and both the fills and his ride made my head jerk. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

I listened to the date to see if there was any more BE besides "Souvenirs." That's all I could hear except for some sliding harmonics on “I'm Gonna Miss You When You Go” (along w/ Grady on gut string). Looks like Pete Drake on the first 4 and Emmons on the last 3.
Check out Pete Drake at @ 0:45 on “She’s Just A Drifter.”

You're the man,Bob!I'm gonna start just e-mailing you when I need to find something out in a hurry...you're good!
Yeah, that Pete example, that's what he did on the song"El Paso City"...textbook Pete...he'd find something different and use it to tie an album together...I can't recall the last time I heard an album with Buddy AND Pete on it!
Thanks,Pal! |

Billy Sanford story from his recent "Nashville Cats" interview:
"I used to love to play Pete Drake's steel right before the red light came on - when we start recording. And for some reason he had a string on there that would always break. And I would break it - just before the light came on. And Pete would be over there (tuning up the new string) mumbling: "Sanford &#%!@?" |

Bit off subject but noteworthy:
Bent - here's Katz while in Australia.
The most interesting aspect (to me) is the Aussie guys have those 'pre-mullets' (hair styles) - just before the real "mullets' came in big time (my hair was always too useless to grow one!)
hint; a mullet is Aussie slang for a particular type of hair style - like these guys with a bit more lengths at the back.
My favourite Robbins track is still Cigarettes and Coffee Blues. back then they seldom listed the musos on the record covers.
