Hi Charles, thanks for your interest. "Kolbus" is the name of the group (Jon Øyvind Kolbu is the singer).
I got started about 20 years ago, listening to the records of Buck Owens, Ray Price, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Charley Pride & other 50's/60's country stars. My main influences were (and still are) Tom Brumley, Lloyd Green, Ralph Mooney and Buddy Emmons - later Paul Franklin and Tommy White. Bought a few books to learn the basics (Mel Bay, Winnie Winston etc), but never had any personal lessons, so I'm pretty much self taught. |

| A lot of Music for two pieces.Norway has some great Steelers.Add yourself to some great playing..Great playing..I can hear the influences but played with accuracy and tone..Love to hear you at St. Louis with EGIL some day.. |

| Henning, I play these songs a lot and I have yet to tire of listening to them. It seems that once in awhile, IMO, someone great comes along and today it's you. Years ago I enjoyed my visits up there. |

Hi Jim, thanks for the compliment I'm playing my Emmons LeGrande III through a Fender Steelking. The only effects I use is an RV3 for some reverb & delay. |

You're right, Tony. I would say Norway has a lot of great pickers. In a small country of about 5 million population, I think there are a huge number of steel players per capita. I can safely say that a lot of them take their steel guitar studies very seriously. Most all of them have top equipment, with Zum, Emmons and Franklin being the leading names.
We all know the two top pickers, Egil Skjelnes and Dag Wolf. Then most of you know of forum member Tore Blestrud, a very fine traditional country picker.
Besides those three we have the great players like Henning whom you have just heard.

| Charles, thanks for the post. I listened to all their tunes. Henning and company; You do a fine job. Something about your sound (the three of you) is way above average. Love the singers voice. It reinds me of K.D. Lang. Is it a Northern Hemisphere thing with you folks? Such beautiful music! |

The source of the sound is not amateur IMO. The lighting? Ehh, music is sound, not light
