Topic: Reso Lessons? |

What do you all think about Lessons with Troy? I have been learning Squareneck Reso since August/September (just self-directed by ear) ... I am past the beginner's stage (already playing out some with a Bluegrass group)... no one in my neck of the woods to show me some licks/tricks/tips ... I've learned much on my own, but I feel like I am only scratching the surface ... was thinking about some Lessons with Troy ... maybe learn some licks in various keys ... thoughts?

Troy is a very good teacher. One of Troy's strengths is an excellent command of music theory as it relates to the dobro.
Also check out Jimmy Heffernan. JImmy has a lot of great things on his site:

Rob spends a lot of time on technique, which is invaluable. I've developed my share of bad habits over the years, and in multiple workshops and classes with Rob he has tried to correct some of them. Maybe one of these years his recommendations will take! When you're in a workshop with Rob, he spends a lot of time on technique and not so much time in showing you cool licks.

| Troy and Jimmy have lessons on some of the same songs. I have found it a good learning experience to see their different approaches to the same song. |

You can't beat Troy's lessons, he takes the time to show and explain everything in easy to digest segments.

I have no hesitation recommending Troy Brenningmeyer, Jimmy Heffernan or Michael Witcher's lessons. Any one of these guys will get you started down the right path.
