Maybe this is a dumb question, but does a MatchBro, when not set to the dobro setting, act like a regular impedence matching device (like a MatchBox, Little Izzy or Freeloader)? _________________ To write with a broken pencil is pointless. |

Depends on which model of the Matchbro. The original models (with and without the tone in the bypass) do have a buffered/low impedance output.
Not sure about the Matchbro II, but the last model made, the Superbro model was a full bypass so it would not do any buffering or impedance changing. |

I've got the version of the MatchBro that has the 3rd knob on the bottom which I believe is "steel tone". Seems to do the same thing as Brad's Freeloader. But I could be wrong 'bout dat. _________________ To write with a broken pencil is pointless. |

If you have one with the Tone control (active in the bypass mode) then you have the model that does have a buffer amp (op amp) and a low impedance output.
This is the same as the one I have. These are the original model MatchBro (there were two models one with the tone control and on one without). |
