Pretty sure Skip is right. I believe it was Weldon.

Here's a good clip with Mike Johnson on steel.

I played with Moe for nearly seven years, and it was always my understanding that it was Weldon on that cut. But I must confess I played the intro and turnaround on E9, switching to C6 for the fills.

I'm with Frank on this one. It sounds like Buddy on this one. The times I've heard Weldon on the C6, which were very few, he didn't have the drive that this tune shows more Emmons in this setting.

Doesn't sound like Emmons to me. Doesn't have the Emmons tone and feel. I think Tommy has the inside track on who played it.

It's Weldon. I remember Jeff Newman telling some of us about him using a chorusing effect for a thicker, doubling thing on that cut.

Tommy Detamore is correct; it was Weldon Myrick.
Weldon was used on quite a few cuts as well as
Sonny Garrish on later cuts of the Moe and Joe
albums.

OK, I give up - I've confused Weldon and Buddy's playing before.

I know it's not exhaustive but why wouldn't Weldon have included "Good Ol' Boys" in the Moe Bandy credits on his website ?

"Rodeo Clown" - Moe Bandy
"Americiana" - Moe Bandy
"Hank Williams, You Wrote My Life" - Moe Bandy
"Yesterday Once More" - Moe Bandy
"Soft Lights & Hard Country Music" - Moe Bandy
"Cowboys Ain't Suppose To Cry" - Moe Bandy

Technically I guess "Good Ole Boys" would be a Moe and Joe credit, not strictly a Moe Bandy credit. Credits get overlooked and omitted quite often. There are things missing in my own discography, which is nowhere near as vast as somebody like Weldon's.

To further muddy these waters, there were some Moe and Joe things that Buddy played on. "Tell Ole I Ain't Here" comes to mind. Am I recalling correctly Roy P?

It was common knowledge around town that Weldon played on that record...the tip off was the"E9 speed picking"style licks that he played...on the C6 neck!

Buddy played on some Moe and Joe sides too,as stated earlier by Tommy...but not"Good Ole Boys"...

Hey Tommy and Roy, hope you're both well. Seems to me that Weldon may have told me he played through a Peavey, Stereo Chorus amp on that cut. Also on some cuts with Reba. That conversation took place one night when we were doing The Opry if I remember correctly. Any thoughts on that ?? Stay well.

Sincerely,
Chris "Tiny" O.

It's been a long time, Tiny! I am doing great. Weldon very well could have used a stereo chorus amp, and might have even told me that, but I don't remember. He was known to try effects on different things, and I remember him playing through a Memory Man one night at the Opry. A great guy and great player. Hope you are doing well, too!

In the clip with Mike Johnson on steel, who is the lady doing vocals in the black dress with a white collar? She is also a brunette; I haven't seen her in awhile. Thanks in advance.
