Christie's catalog is listing Coy Martin's 1951 Bigsby Pedal Steel (w/ flip out ashtray option) - Serial # 7151 (July 1, 1951) Also listed is a circa 1968 Music City Manufacturing Incorporated Sho-Bud 12 String ("Inspected by PF")

Something is telling me Coy could play some steel:

Ricky,
I agree '74-'76 at the latest. Very nice guitar though! Wish I weren't broke!

Cool! 10 string neck seems to be the original pedal neck with headstock plungers. Then at some point PA has added pedals for the front neck. But what the heck is that tube sticking up at the rear neck???

Does anyone remember a tall pedal steel player named Danny Boyd in California. Danny had a double neck Bigsby and before I was 21 around 1950 he was playing at the Garden Inn in Hayward, CA. I took lessons from Danny in Richmond, CA from about 1949 to 1951. Danny was tall knowledgable guy and played quite well.

Yes, Joe got the Boyd Bigsby from his teacher and just won't let it go.

The Coy Martin Bigsby sold for $11,875, not bad.

The Sho-Bud only got $625.

Most interesting is that the family collection of Dopyera instruments was generally very affordable.

Doc Watson's Gallagher guitar reached $40,000.00; God bless him.

The 12-string Sho-Bud that sold at the auction is now listed on Ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-75-Sho-Bud-USA-6160-12-String-Pedal-Steel-Electric-Guitar-w-OHSC-/330843425081?pt=Guitar&hash=item4d07ce0939

It has already passed Christie's price.
