| Have you tried different guitar cords? Have you run the guitar direct to the amp input? The amp only powered on, etc? |

| Jamie, I saw you on True Country playing Rick Price's Steel. At least I thought it was Rick Price's Steel. I actually heard the steel guitar before they showed you. I knew it was someone different than Price or Lowesburg. You played some GREAT stuff, it turned my head. Now about your hum. A hum problem is a "rare" problem/complaint-I seldom get a hum complaint. Of course anything is possible. Probably the only true test is to try the pedal on totally different equipment in a different location. Only use a guitar and amplifier. Adding just one thing from the old set-up could cloud the test and fool you. If you can't figure it out, send the pedal to me and I will figure it out. By the way, thanks for using my pedal. |

| I had a hum recently also with a Hilton Electronic pedal. I turned the volume control(bottom knob) on my VP down some and it stopped. I also turned the other control on the VP(tone) down a little. This was going on with a NV-112 amp mainly on the lows knob. Maybe this'll work you. Thanks. |

I use a different volume pedal, but as my volume went up on the amp, this humming would increase exponentially. after isolating this very loud humming to the volume pedal as the source, saw that my power supply had an exposed wire. Not broken or anything that I could tell, but I wrapped it in electrical tape and the hum went away. I wonder if it was generating some feedback? Of course I am not sure if this is your problem, but good luck finding out what it is.
By the way, I really enjoy your videos with Georgette and your playing. Great sound, man! |

Thanks guys, I tried it just with steel and amp no effects, then changed chords still the same.
When I get home I will try the turn volume down on the pedal method.
Whats the factpry setting for the tone control ?

Hi Jamie, try pluging the steel into the amp without the pedal.
If you still have hum, the pickup is most likely getting the hum
from the amps transformer. Sometimes moving the amp further
away from the steel will help. I had that problem on one of my
steels no matter what amp I used. The Walker SS really reduced
the hum, but not completely. I tried 3 different pickups and had
the same problem. Then I tried an Alumitone P/U and it was so
quiet even with any amp sitting by the changer end of the steel.
I have the Alumitone on both of my steels. Love the sound. 
On my Hiltons, I run the volume and tone pots fully clockwise.
Hope this may help a little.

Jamie, I still don't see a post that you tried the amp by itself with nothing plugged in and straight from the guitar to the amp, nothing else with a known good guitar cord.
It may very well be something happened to the power supply for the Hilton, but everything else must be ruled out first. I used to do amp repair (in Nashville at a lower Broadway music store) and have had customers come in with hum problems and it would turn out to not be what they were convinced was the problem. |

tried direct without the pedal and its fine, also my pot pedal is fine, just the hilton creates a mjor hum >

OK,then it is the pedal. If you have one of the newer detachable power supplies, check to see is someone else there also has one and try their power supply. That would be the part I would first suspect. If you had some type of AC Power ("Mains") surge or whatever that could have damaged the power supply.
I use a good grade surge power strip for my equipment, for extra protection. |
