Looking for something light for small club gigs. Already have a heavily modded Nashville 400 with the Eminence Neo speaker in it, so I'm looking for a portable backup amp with reverb and headphone out.
As anyone tried BOTH the Roland XL80 and the ZT Club? |

Not sure about the ZT club Alex but the XL80 is a winner! Lotsa effect features and great sound from a plug~N~play amp, and small. Much discussion about them just do a search |

I have both the Roland XL80 and the ZT Club and I like the Roland for PSG so much more.
The ZT Club is a dark sounding amp, lots of midrange, less treble. A nice amp for Strat or Tele. |

Aaah, don't you just love it when everyone agrees on something! How often does that ever happen? Thanks guys, Cube XL80 then.
I was also considering a small bass amp a la GK MB200 or Phil Jones D200, but then you also need a cab, a neo speaker, and reverb pedal, or rackmount effects... Might be very good soundwise but for now I want something simpler.
Onwards and upwards! |

The Club has a digital overdrive that as you raise the gain it increases. Makes the club pretty useless for steel. There is no way to shut this off and clean it up.
I own one and really like it for six string. It goes to gigs as a backup and jams as a grab and go. It's hard to beat for this purpose but just has no voice for steel guitar. Bluesy lap sounds good however. _________________ On man....let the smoke out of another one. |
