I'm checking this out at local music store, and in a position to make an offer- what price range am I in? I've played a Tele through it with great results- no hum nor crackling pots.
Thanks,
Asa

Hi Asa,
Just the other day I saw a silver knob session 400 with peavey stamped JBL on ebay for $289 buy it now. Seemed like a great deal even if it needed some new caps. At a music store I'd start real low (like $200) just because it's a big amp that could sit there for a long time. I think I told you about that Vegas I picked up at Burlington guitar and amp... |

Asa, you will get that amp for $200 or under. This model is only on steel players' radars. I'd even offer $150. Most people assume that solid state Peaveys are only worth that anyway. Good score! My favourite single-duty steel amp. I have a '77 just like it. Although I often use my Twin for double-duty, when it's just steel I take my Session 400. _________________ Jackson Steel Guitars

If that's an 8 ohm JBL you won't be getting full power from the amp. |

Great amps, even if the speaker is an 8-ohm JBL. I have one & if ya push it, mic it up!! |

Got it for 2- thanks for the advice guys. I have a new eminence 4ohm neo as backup, but I'm really liking it as is with the mismatched jbl. A 15 in that huge cab is a revelation for me- what a gigantic sound.

I have an 8 ohm JBL K130 in a Session 400 and it's still quite loud. JBL's are very efficient speakers. |

I bet the Eminence speaker would sound great in that amp, and it would then be a fairly lightweight amp too. Probably wouldn't weigh much more than a Nashville 112. Let us know how it sounds if you do the swap, please. |
