| Yep, that's him! Kind of crazy that a young guy that had so much success playing steel guitar would just "put it away". Kind of cool that he's from here in Akron Ohio though! Thanks guys. |

Have you heard him play lately? I don't think he put it away. Maybe he just wanted to make a decent living with his life, and have a stable family life.
Jerry is one of the nicest fellows I have ever talked to. If he has an ego, It definitely is under wraps. The man is definitely intelligent.  |

| Discovering who Jerry Brightman is has been a revelation for me. Through the years of playing in NE Ohio I've been asked over and over again, "Do you know Jerry Brightman?" They would then continue on to say that he played with Buck Owens. At that point I would quit listening... and believing. Fast forward to current times. I'm watching reruns of Hee Haw on RFD TV and low and behold... there really is a local steel player who played with Buck Owens!! Where was the internent back then?! I had met Mike Daly when he lived in Cleveland. I wonder how many other greats have come out of my area. Jim, my comment about Jerry "putting it away" came from his bio. From what he writes, he really did put it in the closet! I believe he is playing to some extent now. |

Mark, From what I can gather, Jerry is the man behind the Performance pedal steel guitars. It was apparently a quality steel in its time. Looked great too.

| I worked for Jerry building Performance Steel Guitars. He may have put it away for a while, but is quite active now. He's currently playing with a friend's band, and is active in the recording scene here in the Cleveland/Akron area. Very nice guy! |

Jerry was with Buck when he came to Oz in 19?? but when I saw him he was so far off his face that we got very little steel unfortunately. Had looong hair too unlike the rest of the band ! I took my wife and kids to see them and the show was great. I can't (I don't ever trust my memory much these days) remember what steel he had that night but it was mainly there for show. He sat there but D Rich did all the work that night.
Hey Jerry, if you read this I totally forgive you - I was young once - I think? but as I said my memory----.

| Hi John, We've talked about our Klines before. I think I have heard of Performance Steel Guitars, but not sure if I've ever seen one. Were they built here in Ohio? I think for local Ohio steel guitar heros, John you probably can be counted in as one. If I'm not mistaken, you've done some touring. Jim, what are you forgiving Jerry for? Long hair? Not sure if I get your response. |

Gosh Mark, I don't actually remember !
I posted that at least an hour ago.
I have enough trouble remembering what key I'm in now but I'll never forget that Buck Owens show - one of the best.

Hi, yes Jerry went to play with Buck right after he played with Gene Walker, and I, at the Rose Lounge in Copley. Gene also had a fellow with a last name of Scheafer (spelling), but cant remember his first name,play steel for us. Always seemed to wear red boots, with a parrot design on them. At that time Freddy Little played lead for us. Then defected to the steel.

Back in 1971, I appeared at the annual convention of Eastern States Country Music Inc. at Capitol Music Hall in Wheeling,WV as a contestant. A young Jerry Brightman was the steel player with the house band. He was excellent then and has been since then. He sure made me sound good. He helped me come away with the top honor of "Best Male Entertainer" that year.
I have never again seen him in person but did see him on HeeHaw with Buck. I knew he was a winner back then and would climb much higher in his career, which he has done. After all these years, I'm sure he won't remember me, but I sure remember him.
