Hi,

I played a gig on an outdoor stage Saturday. Even though the stage was covered the whole band was in the late evening sun. My fingers and hands stayed sweaty and sticky no matter how many times I wiped them off.

Believe it or not, it was the first time this Floridian has played the steel under such conditions.

How do you deal with this situation? Please share your remedies.

Thanks,

Bob

Lava hand soap right before playing.
Fresh towels.
Absorbent terrycloth wrist cuffs.
Personal fan (squirrel cage recommended).

The word's getting out about those small squirrel-cage fans... a little pricey, but worth it. Normal fans murder the music when the sound bounces off of rotary blades... squirrel cage is the only one that cures this.

This is the one I have...

$50 is cheaper than I paid. Completely worth every penny.

Hi Stephen,

Thanks for the tips. The squirrel cage fan looks appealing.

Best,

Bob

I have a cheap parasol that I attach to my steel with a carpenter's clamp and some duct tape. It's kept the guitar cool more than once!
