I loved it, Doug.
Beautiful interpretation of an unusual, striking tune.

Wow, that was great! Makes me want to get out the Lap Steel and go for it, but I guess one bridge at a time is enough to cross. 2nd year into PSG and working on that. I have an Airline, don't know much about them though but willing to learn. What tuning do you use? I think I'll strin g it up and give it a whirl. |

Well if I had read the post I would know the tuning. Looked at my strings for the Airline and they say A7. Is that a good tuning? |

Thanks Ray, Bosse, and others.
Ray, you could probably play this song on A7 (or any other tuning), but I think a 6th tuning works best because it has full (3 note) minor chords. Minor chords are an important part of this song. I like C6, but any 6th tuning would work fine.
If you decide to retune your A7 to C6 you will probably need to change the strings. I think A7 has fairly thick strings on the bottom, and C6 requires thinner strings. Below are the gauges I use:
E .014
C .017
A .020p
G .024w
E .030
C .036
Bosse, I'm looking forward to seeing your 8-string lap steel! _________________ My Site / My YouTube Channel
