I've been wanting to start back playing my old '54 Triple neck Stringmaster (26in scale), but like many old Fenders, the tuners are shot.
So who has the ideal DIY plan for getting these tuners working?
Also looking for some kind of road case for it. The old tweed case is just being held together by a couple of threads. _________________ http://www.oldbluesound.com/about.htm

If you take out the strips of tuners, you can replace them with individual standard Kluson type guitar tuners.
They will be held in place by the tuner pan.
The only thing you need to do is drill a hole through the tuner posts to thread the string through. |

Jeff,
I don't think it's that simple if he has the older, unslotted tuner pans. The tuners are brazed on. I guess the braze breaks and then the tuner gears get stripped. I'm sure someone with more expertise will chime in. |

Thanks, but mine are NOTHING like those.
The one I have each tuner is soldered to the tuner pan, and the tuning knobs are somehow soldered on.
The only fix I can see is to try and look for gears that match up and replace those. _________________ http://www.oldbluesound.com/about.htm
