I have a maple Beard E model, approximately three years old. This is one of the finest instruments I have ever owned. Great powerful sound.

It is in like new condition, loaded with the Jerry Douglas Fishman bridge pickup. The dobro was recently set up by Tim Sheerhorn. It has a Sheerhorn cone in it. Comes with hardshell case. $3200.00 OBO.

That is stunning, Dennis.
Does anybody have 3K they can lend me? Laughing
BTW, Dennis, you may get a few more hits if you post in steel guitars for sale.

I've moved this to For Sale: Steel Guitars for higher visibility. These are excellent instruments, and this particular one has some beautiful wood in it.

It originally had the factory Beard cone in it. It sounded good, but the Sheerhorn cone is the top of the line cone he installs in his resonators, and it just had a much better tone to it. If you picked up the cone by itself, it would just ring when you thumped it. And having him set it up was really nice.

Does this model have soundpost in it? No soundwell, right? Any scoop?

Somebody's going to be happy - I have yet to play a Beard E that I didn't like.

They have no soundwell, and they don't have a bass baffle. Open body design with some sort of bracing system that Paul Beard has devised.

As far as cones, I think all three are great from Quarterman, Beard, and Scheerhorn and now National has a new cone which could rival them.

My Quarterman in my Clinesmith was getting "tired" and at Resosummit in Nashville two years Tim Scheerhorn installed one of his cones in my guitar. Great sustain and bell-like tone. Tim believes it will last longer than the competition.

The guitar sounds the best it ever has (it's eight years old) I think the combination of the "opening up" time over the years plus the cone is responsible.
