I probably would not have bought this LP if it didn't come in a job lot of Hawaiian Albums. It turned out to be excellent (after my ears adjusted to Ernie's rather Imperious baritone). Recorded in Hawaii with Barney Isaacs on steel guitar, Benny Kalama, uke., Pua Almeida and Sonny Kamahele, guitars., Jimmy Kaopuiki, bass., Alex Among, vibes., Greg Molina, drums. How could you go wrong!

This IS a great LP! Took me a couple of plays as well, before I realized how well "Cousin" Ernie's voice worked in this context. |

Agreed! Top notch playing from the cream of the crop Hawaiian players of the era + Tennessee Ernie in fine voice. What's not to like? |

ALEX AMONG (playing vibes on this disc) is also a superb guitarist (not steel). The AMONG family are very talented. He has a brother by the name of KUKI AMONG who plays about the best I have heard (and jammed with) on guitar...an equal to HIRAM OLSON ! Kuki is married to a vibe player named BEV...man, she plays great jazz on those vibes ! |
