Mike when we spoke last ... I told you I was just going to take my Sierra with the prototype "Dining Car" pickup in it ...

The Boobpan and the Bronzepan don't fly well ... Laughing ... And Chrissy won't let me drive that far alone anymore.

Then I considered taking the first cast steel I ever made ... A little rascal that has one of my Fountain v.2 pickups in it ...

But every time I went down to practice ... I kept looking over at my " Pearl" ...

And although I really didn't feel up to it ... I built this one, milled out the steel, drilled a spot for the toggle, etc.

Now I'm glad I did ... Mr. Green

If "Joliet Bound" isn't the name of a song, it ought to be.

Surveillance footage from Syl's the year Harry Dietrich got us thrown out ...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvZgwtpPmLY

Any of y'all remember his one and only set ...

His audience fineness : "My next f#€%ing song is Blue F&@#£ing Hawaii" ...

His adherement to traditional tempo: Pearly Shells at 250 bpm

His "bar roll ending" to Malagueña. Shocked

I sure miss him ... Crying or Very sad

Beautiful guitar!!
Wish I could go to Joliet...
ANY time spent with Alan is invaluable. JB's star student, comes from one of the greatest Hawaiian families, giving, caring, a walking encyclopedia of Hawaiian history. Alan Akaka has done more for preserving Hawaiian traditions than anyone I can think of, and always 1000% positive!
Please say Aloha from this old haole friend. Very Happy
