On Nov. 11, 2012, the GA Steel Guitar Association will honor our own "Larry Wimpy Sasser".

After over 40 years of picking with all the great stars, Larry is retiring from picking.

Larry wanted to do his last show for his hometown friends.

SEE SHOW DETAILS BELOW IN THIS THREAD

Hi Jeff, Mark, Richard and the rest of you all,

I hope all is well with you fellas! I also loved to watch him on that show (for many years) and found him to be very inspiring as well! I got to meet him a couple of times at the St. Louis convention, when he played his ZumSteel Hybrid. He sounded just fantastic!!

My very best wishes go out to Larry "Wimpy" Sasser in his retirement Very Happy

Bill, I sure hate to see Larry retiring, but I understand.
I had such and honor being on the stage with Larry and JayDee, things can't get any better for a singer. Please extend my Thanks once again to Larry, and tell him I wish him the very best. He is a true gentleman and a great steeler.

Always enjoyed Larry with the Nashville Now TV Band in the 80's. After coming home from my day job thru the So.Calif. traffic I would turn on NVN at 6:00 PM and come back to life. Larry would play an intrumental once in a while that he wrote. Did he ever record it ? can anybody post a copy ?

Hope you enjoy your retirement and be in good health

Hey Billy,

Larry came out with an instrumental CD in the mid 90's called "Sassy Country" which is EXCELLENT. These are the tunes on it...

1. Sassy Frassin'
2. Always on My Mind
3. Take Me as I Am (Or Let Me Go)
4. Are You Sure
5. Dogwood Trail
6. Real Country
7. Nashwood
8. Mercy, Mercy, Mercy
9. Healing Hands of Time
10. Gardenia Waltz
11. Cold, Cold Heart
12. Easy Goin'

Sassy Frassin may be the one you're thinking of. I don't know if it's still available or if Larry still has them for sale...

It goes without saying that Larry has been an inspiration to many. I am no exception. I bought my first steel and went to great lengths to record Nashville Now with Larry Playing. I wore those tapes out trying to figure out how he did all those licks. I learnt a few of them and added to them or rephrased them and created my own sound and style. I wish you a great retirement Larry. God bless and "Thank-you" for all the lessons you gave me without even knowing it.
