'76 Emmons Lacquer D-10 PP (SOLD)

Well, believe it or not I just finished up restoring another lacquer push-pull! And, just like the last '74 teal lacquer Emmons I sold, the cabinet was stripped and refinished by my friend, SG Forumite Bob Littleton in Camas, Washington. Here is a link to his web site.

I completely restored this Original (not a reissue) 1976 Emmons guitar S/N 2253D from top to bottom, it's the real deal and correct as it can be, right down to the proper slotted wood screws holding the brackets to the cabinet. The highly-figured birds eye maple cabinet was re flocked, aluminum professionally polished, necks jeweled, etc. and the fret boards are new Emmons Factory replacements. The original Kluson butterfly keys are in great condition, with hardly any backlash. Original legs are standard height. The fatback guitars from this era are some of the best sounding ones and this is no exception! It's a real "tone monster" and it plays like a dream.

Here are a few photos I just added that were taken in the direct sun, to try and show off the highly figured birdseye maple in the cabinet.

The ones below were taken last weekend on my deck in the shade.

At the moment, it has a very standard Emmons set up; 8x4 with E's on the left but I'll be happy to switch it to Day style at no extra charge. I'll also make changes to the existing copedent for free as long as you pay for any additional parts (if required). If you'd prefer to have more knee levers, I could certainly oblige by adding more of them (for an additional charge, of course). The original Emmons single coil pickups are wound to about 18K ohms and sound perfect to me. Included is a hard case in great condition and a new D2F leg bag.

On that last note, I just want to say that in my opinion, I think perhaps one of the best real tests of a guitar is how it performs on the bandstand. Another might be in the recording studio, but since I'm not that kind of player, I prefer to use the bandstand to give a guitar like this the "acid test". I used this guitar last night at a 4 hour gig and I was very impressed with it. It has huge Emmons PP tone, along with great sustain. It also stayed in tune perfectly all evening. Lots of complements along the way from folks made it such a pleasure for me to play. I think one of the best rewards for me, is to be able to play a guitar in public that I have completely restored and have it perform flawlessly Smile

lynn, do you know how bob paints the black shading? does he use a fine spray nozzle? i've always liked that look about emmons lacquer application. i went the safe route on the purple steel, but would like to shade the next one.

Chris, I think Bob used an air brush to do it. He did a perfect, very authentic looking job.
