| I've curious how people would describe or compare the tone of the Kline guitars? I have never played a Kline nor heard one played in person. Are there any popular recordings that have been done on a Kline? I have a pretty good sense for the generic all-pull tone, but do Klines have a distinct tone, sort of like Sho-Buds sound different from other all-pulls? |

I would say they have a sound of their own. I like mine but also really like my vintage guitar tones(ZBs and Fenders) Gonna get a PP someday...

| It's hard to describe, but it seems to me that my Klein sounds thicker, and sustains longer than other guitars. |

I have many songs on my website that were played on a Kline. Granted, not the best possible way to really hear just the guitar, but a fair representation of how the guitar sounds. Amps used were either a Session 500 or a Webb 614-E head into a custom built cabinet with a JBL K130.

Love the sound of my Kline! Clear, and no mud on the heavy strings. I once told Dr. Z that I liked my guitars to sound like a brand new Grand Piano, with new strings. But that's my sound, YMMV.
BTW, I was trying to get Doc to start building steel amps. |

Winnie Winston played a Kline for a while. If my memory serves, I saw him play it when I lived in Philly (but that was thirty years ago and my memory might not serve me very well). I wonder if some of his recordings might be on that guitar.
(Upon examining Winnie's site (http://www.julianwinston.com/music/me_and_the_pedal_steel2.php), it looks like he did indeed play the Kline from 1979 until he left for New Zealand)

| My band opened for Loretta at Ponderosa Park. I walked into the back stage lounge, and there was John! My hero, along with Lloyd. We talked for quite a while. I set up my Kline Uni, and he was VERY interested. He got a Kline about a month later,,,, so there may be some recordings of John playing a Kline. |
