Hello all,
The best modern example of "pat Pend" Nationals, the best finger pick I've ever used, hands down. Has it all, tone,playability,and comfort. They are that good and I think this is a great product we all use. Wanted to let you all know. I play banjo also and these picks were brought to my attention at the Banjo Hang Out.

Try finding original National "pat pending" finger picks, in good shape. They are out there but you'll be shocked at what they sell for. Lots of discussion about "tone", truly this is where it starts.

Bobbie Seymour has the original National NP2's for sale for 6 bucks ea., and some National Clones for .99 cents ea. Go to his site, and click on Picks....real easy to find. I ordered some of each, and really like them. Just Sayin....

To each his own,the NP2's are not even close. The Kyser picks Bobbe carries are very close to the orginal Nationals, I showed his store manager the ones I had last summer when I was in the area and noticed they started carrying them after. I have found the ones made by Hoffemeyer to be nearly exact. I'm leaving for Nashville Monday morning to pick up my second Rittenberry and will stop by again and yes I'll show him the new picks made by Hoffmeyer. Some would believe that $25 bucks is a lot to pay, there is I suspect a lot of hand labor involved with these, just like in the late 20's and to me the feel,tone and playabilty are worth it to me. I have played a long time and don't just randomly mention something. I feel this is a product that many players will like to know about and find useful. One of the great things about this site. Just sayin..my opnion.

| I've been using Blue Chip flatpicks, about 35.00 each, but they DO NOT WEAR! Feel as good as the "old" picks I was using, if not better. They make a thumbpick, too. |

| The Blue Chip Thumbpicks are very good...don't wear either fit secure and sound good. Some things are worth the money even though they seem expensive at first. My Hoffemeyer picks are on the way also |

| recieved my hoffmeyer picks today played them and really like them i always use nationals .025 the blade on these picks seem alittle longer for me this is better i can wear the pick back on my finger alittle farther and it feels better they feel real comfortable like they are part of your finger thanks again |

When I ran across the ACRI picks, there was no going back. It's like comparing differing brands of rowboats to an aircraft carrier.
The bands just CAN'T hurt, they don't even barely need to squeeze. However, the tips need to be re-shaped and/or shortened to steelize them, and steel players have differing requirements there. I was going to write a major blurb/tip-mod post about them here but I figured I'd ask "Gord Acri" first before I advocated banging & slicing on his picks. But after banging my head a bit, what I get from Janet Davis Music's reply to "How do I GET him?" is that he's like a mountain man, sneaks out and drops some picks on Janet Davis & Elderly once in a while then back to the cave. Killer picks, though. |

This is the reference to model/types I was referring to. Has anyone tried both types? If not, I thought I might try the "standard".

Dean Hoffmeyer has really done his due dillegence on these picks. He's an authority on authentic National Picks and their history. We are fortunate to have a craftsman who has replicated the old. Seem like it shouldn't be that difficult, but, although there are many good picks being made today, these are to me the ones that capture the orginals better than any. The banjo community seems to agree as well.
