Topic: Pick-up Noise |

| I need some Idea's on a problem with a pick-up. It has a high pitch viberation(fuzzy) sound after each note, sounds simular to piece of paper on the strings (Only it is a higher pitch). There don't seem to be a problem with the bridge or strings. |

| No Bob, but I have played other guitars thru the amp. and with no problem, That is why i think it is the pick-up |

You might check your rollers. Could be a drop of oil between each one one the axle might fix the problem. When they get dry they will buzz. If that don't fix it polish the fingers. Eleminate the little things first.

Joe , most pedal steel pickups have considerablity more signal output than a regular guitar pickup..This stronger output which is the input to your amp could be over driving the preamp..
Do you have a way to cut back on the amps input gain?..

Mike, I did polish the arms, But i haven't oiled the fingers. I will try that.Thank for the reply
Jerry, I don't have anyway to control the input signal,other than the foot pedal. I don't think that is what you were talking about is it? |

Joe,some amps have a "pre" and "post" gain..What I was talking about if your amp does have a pre and post, try cutting back on the "pre " gain as much as possible and increasing the post gain to get your volume back up to where you want it..
What kind of steel and pickup are you using?
If you still feel like its the pickup and you dont mind a bit of work Joe, send me your pickup and I will check and measure all of the electronic factors ie. output, inductance, capacitance, "Q", AC resistance and the DC at no charge to you..
