OK, Sage Harmos built a great instrument. Jerry Douglas, Joe Perry, Robert Randolph own one.
I have Americana #75...so there must be over 75 Harmos Lap Steels out there...where are they?
Harmos owners, check in here. Since the company is out of business...we will be a small group.

Terry count me in. Americana seven string, second generation. Everything in this world resonates with or from vibration, I think the Titanium bridge and nut are important. Perhaps the lack of solid body is the secret of the incredible tone. I don't know their #ing system but mine is - M2 OT4 HO4

When did the company go out of business? Their website looks fully operational.

One site for Harmos says no longer in service however this site does give the impression that they are still in business... http://harmosmusic.com/musicians.htm Will assume that it may not be correct. |

That's really too bad. I've only been playing for a year, looks like I missed the boat.

well, PostDanmark.dk says mine was shipped to the USA on the 17th.. and should be 7 - 10 days and I will have an 8 string Harmos One with the single Chicago pickup with the second generation keyless tuners.. not sure if it is late enough to have the titanium or not...
Here are some photos of what is coming.

these would look good with the steel and player surrounded by a geodesic dome made out of pull tabs from beer cans. |

Howard,
I am looking at pictures of that stand.. Can you tell me how it is connected? I cant tell. My new Harmos (M-024-J03) has two holes drilled in the end plate, and the stand appears to have two "nubs" that stick up.. do they sit on that?
I got one of the Ultimate V Pro stands and am trying to figure the cleanest (and easiest) way to connect the two..
Thanks! |

The two holes that are in the endplates are for the dance bar.......the Harmos sits on those flat nubs and is quite secure as it's a tight fit....... |

Speaking of jealousy, that stand of HowardR's - is that like PVC pipe of some form? I've seen as the drum cage stuff where the build a wall of tom-toms, but that would be the expensive way to go. I know there are tons of people making furniture out of PVC, but does anyone have an organized parts list or plans for such a thing? The reason I ask is I just got a new/old MSA SuperSlide, with the "Freedom Stand" and with the legs extended to standing height it wobbles all over the place. I do have a nice folding walker I can use, but it does look a bit like a, ummm, walker. I suppose I could hang feathers and beads and skulls and stuff from it.
PVC would work pretty good, but I don't really want to wander around the plumbing store scratching my head say "ummm..." for hours. I'll dig around on the net, but if somebody has already made one and can share schemes, I'd appreciate it. |

David,....is your stand the older 3 legged stand?.....if so, you can have it modified (by MSA) to a 4 legged stand which solves the wobble problem..... |

Here's Joe Perry from Aerosmith with his Harmos. I got him hooked up with Sage and they were more than happy to give him one with a stand. He used it on tour.

I currently use a Keyboard X-Stand to play mine onstage, but I really feel like I missed the boat by not getting a Harmos Stand when I had the chance...
