This 1983 R.Q. Jones resonator is in very good condition for it's age. It has a couple of bar dings on the upper bout which the pictures will show. I have two Schoonovers and hardly ever play this one so maybe someone else could use it more. This color is almost identical to the mahogony R.Q.that Jerry Douglas used for many years that is on exhibit in the Country Music Hall Of Fame. $2300 shipped to the lower 48 only. Pay Pal is ok if the buyer pays the 3% fee. I have many more pictures that I can email to anyone interested. Non forum members can contact me at: dmalex56@yahoo.com

Wonderful guitars! I met Rudy Jones when he first started making these in Oklahoma. I ticked his wife off when I said "I like the sound of that Dobro", which, of course, showed my ignorance of the instrument back then. She tore into me, "That is an R.Q. Jones resophonic, not a Dobro!" to which I replied, "Well, it sounds like a Dobro to me!" Wish I had the bucks for it! I really like the Schoonovers, too, built in Oklahoma, too, custom built by my buddy, Kent Schoonover. |

That is a beautiful Jones, and yes, it looks a lot like Jerry's and also one owned by Roger Williams, a great player in his own right.
This being tight-for-money business is no fun, I'm sure I would enjoy that guitar! _________________ Mark |

Good to hear from you Alan. I will always call a dobro a dobro, I don't care who owns the name. Something needs to go to finance another guitar and I wouldn't take for the Schoonovers I have so the R.Q. is the one. It won't bother me if I don't sell it and I may change my mind. Thanks Mark for your good comments too. It's a great guitar.

David, I wish I could buy this guitar. Rudy was a good friend of mine. I always wanted him to build me a guitar, but never could afford one. He was a great dobro player. I played electric lead guitar in his bluegrass band. His goal was to get a guitar in the Country Music Hall of Fame, he did it and as far as I know he quit building guitars. Someone told me he moved to Florida, but I have no idea. And boy could he smoke some ribs!!!!! Wish I knew where he was. Those ribs were good!! |

I worked for Rudy in Wanette, OK in 1977/78. We had some good times in his shop in that little red dirt town. You never knew who was going to pull up to place an order or just visit. |
