best sounding amp I ever had was an old SHO BUD christmas tree amp. Tommy Cass had gotten a makeover for this amp from David Jackson, it boosted the power to 120 watts rms. like everything else I have ever owned that was good, I sold it. now using a PV special 130 with Fox mods, it kicks real good, but I will probably sell that too!

Wow! was this just s design change over the years? Why did they make these symetrical amps?

Mark, they didn't. Someone did that and I bought the pair. The thought of a left-handed amp, to go with a left handed guitar, has always given me a chuckle.

That's not a left-handed amp, it's a part of a matched stereo pair!

What? Stereo? I thought that was invented after the last Sho-Bud was made?

Chas
I have one like the one on the right.
Had it reworked by Mr. Ken Fox, has a D-130 JBL 4 Ohm speaker. It is the best sounding amp, just love it.
Bought it back in the 70's

I had the opportunity more than once to buy one of these back when they first came out. Oh, no, I was a young brat and the only amp was a Fender Twin, I put a 15" JBL in....sounded good, but wish now I would have bought the Sho Bud. Question: Why doesn't someone get the patent and start producing these amps again? Same with push pull. Everyone rants over them, and rightfully so, but then it becomes a dead issue.

I owned one of the Sho-Bud single channel Cain amps for a while. This one had a JBL D130F. It was nice sounding for sure. Everyone kept telling me to not drive it too hard because it would destroy the Lansing. I do not play excessively loud, but I do hammer pretty good on the C neck with big low end rakes, stabs and slams sometimes.

So out of both fear of damaging something and economical distress, I sold it.

I don't want to get into a best contest, but I have to say it was definitely one of them.

I'm currently using a pair if these: http://www.ztamplifiers.com/products/club.html

I won't say they're the best, but at 22 pounds, they don't break my back when I carry then, and when used with with my Sarno black Box and my POD XT they sound really sweet.
