Johan, truer words hath ner' been spaketh.
Get the music in your mind, hear in your mind what you want to play then find where it is on the guitar,it will be there even with two knee levers. find it, it may be easier with less things (knees) to confuse you. | I'm with bOb on this. I have the same copedent and lever set-up from the first steel I bought over 20 yrs ago. My first steel was an LDG w/3 and 4. Expression comes from muscle memory. You play what you hear and feel, not rehearsed licks just to work in a new lever or change. |

Bob Simmons, you wonderful rascal you!!
So great to see an old friend that has so many accomplishments in playing steel,bulding steels, teaching steel,flying, pilot instructor with all the high pressure ratings, model train collector etc. Yep, you are someone I look up to, what an interesting busy guy!
Now, I have no trade secrets, as a matter of fact, everytime I come up with something I feel is great, I put a video out on it and share with everybody.
My C6th set up? You bet. If enough folks want to see it, I'll post it here, if not,I'll do an e-mail for you. However, I do have three guitars, all have different setups on them. This doesn't bother me at all for some strange reason. I can play any type of job on any of them but when recording where everything is brutally important, I use the "more loaded" approach. Playing a typical Nashville job though, my less loaded guitars will suffice, lighter and simpler. All my "Thumpicking only" jobs with Tom Bresh,BobSaxton,Ronnie Prophett, etc.< I try to use the "loaded" guitar. Everytime I use the loaded guitar, I'm very carful not to aim it at anyone.
