Hi Smile

I am new on this wonderful board.
Being a country inspired guitarist i bought a
Zumsteel starter a couple of years ago.
Last month i was invited to play in a new country/rock
band here in Denmark.
So i have been practicing a lot lately.
I'm am more a PSG owner than a player for now.
I do some fills here and there Winking

When the band and I were setting up at
The Scandinavian Country club festival
A Gentleman commented on my zumsteel starter, we started talking.
I had a very nice talk with Fred Newell Smile Smile
This is an other reason to love the PSG everyone is so nice to each other.

The closing band saturday were the Waylon Jennings backing band
with Fred on steel.

He is by a country mile the BEST steel player i have ever heard live Smile
He did next to all the intros outros, long solos.
Even had a box next to the GFI Ultra that made it sound like a National steel!

he played on a Peavey Nashville 400 (Part of the back gear found on stage)

Fred told me he did not use the Emmons setup. I forget the name of the set-up.
The GFI Ultra (S10) used to have 5 pedals, but he removed 2, never used them.
During the concert he used the C pedal the most???
instead of abc pedals, is his then cba ??

I'm so happy, and now i would like to get a GFI ultra because is sounds so nice.
I now it does not make me sound better, but what a sound.

Regards Kennert

He uses what is called the Day setup. The C and A pedals are reversed. That means the A pedal raises 4&5 and the C pedal raises 5&10. The other setup most commonly used is the Emmons setup which the A pedal raises 5&10 and the C pedal raises 4&5.

Thanks Paul.

The day set-up.

He also had a vertical leaver for the left knee.

With a fine collection, at least he used to have a collection of custom painted teles. Anyone know if he still does?

He was, for many seasons to lead player on Nashville Now and later on Ralph Emory's morning show on TNN.
