Jim and I had that discussion a while back. He did play steel on Hank's last show, and also on Johnny Horton's last show. Both were at the Skyline club, (located in Austin at the corner of Lamar blvd and Braker lane, where a CVS now sits)... same wife, same gig, same steel player, just 7 years apart... talk about creepy.
