Congrats to Bruce Zumsteg who recieved the Life Time Achievment award, an Russ Wever for Steel Guitar Player of the year award. They recieved the awards from the Kansas City Heartland steel show. It was a fun weekend. Thanks to Roger Hurst an friends for all there hard work.

It was a great show and a great weekend. We owe a lot of it to you and your buddy, Glen Richards on Sax. You guys always bring the house down with your Swing numbers. Thanks for being there.
We'll have a lot of pictures and stuff from the event posted on the Forum by tomorrow afternoon. Watch for them. |

When I was a kid the first steel player I worked with was Bill Jobes...I would listen to Bill and tell myself I would sure like to do that. One Bruce came in and played and I tld myself....I got to do that!!!! I feel very honored that your two lifetime achievement award winners were my first big influences...Congrats to Bruce for a so deserved honor....ALSO congrats to Russ for being named steel player of the year!!! What a great player and awesome guy!!!! So honored to know both of you!!!!

Russ, this is from your former student Tomi ...i learned all the stuff from the tapes you sent me sometime ago now ... Glad i met you when i did as at the time i could not believe that steel could be played like you played it ...it was Jazz , Country...and all the sweet stuff, ill never forget that , it was on one of our steel shows at Ermington Hotel in Sydey , remember? And Mr Dewitt Scotty was there too ...what a great experience and a lesson for all of us here !

No two more deserving of their awards than Bruce and Russ for sure.
They have devoted their lives to the Steel Guitar and it shows.
Both are wonderful caring people that will help anyone.
I know them both and are proud to call them Friends.
