Hello! Here's a cool intro to Whiskeytown's "Excuse Me While I Break My Own Heart Tonight" Greg Liesz is the Steel player. It's a great intro! Let me know if you have edits! Thanks!

I'm guessing that's the stranger's almanac recording and not the faithless street version?

Good song! This is what I came up with a few years ago when tabbing this song for a friend that was learning steel.

Same notes as Jeff has, just played on different strings (or frets) in a couple of spots. There are a few hints to what position Leisz is playing in by listening to the bar slides in the recording. For example, in the last line, you can hear the slide down from 10th fret to 8th. It's slightly awkward compared to Jeff's tab, but I think it might be how it was originally done.

It's hard to see, but for timing, the beats are indicated on the tab by the little dots at the bottom of each line -- dots which are not evenly spaced on the page as they would be in a perfect world Smile

The very first measure seems a bit off to me. Hitting that F chord. Is that supposed to be the 10th fret?

Cool, good edits gentleman, here is the transcription with the correct 1st measure and Tucker's edit. I find that Tucker's sounds more correct but harder to do Smile Picture file

Hey Jeff, what's the name of that tab program you use? It looks sharp!

Looks like TablEdit. Could easily add chord symbols.

Tabledit indeed. I'm still trying to work out some of the kinks with the program, it is not that intuitive for me after using Finale and Sibelius for a long time. But I'm getting the hang of it. Gary how do I add chord symbols?

I'm out of town away from computer, but the link above may address issues.
You didn't great job on it. As you tweak the tab, which I really appreciate, you may like to remove the timing stems from the tablature, because we can see the timing from the musical nots above.

I' m not at all being critical of anything, and appreciate all that you did.
Thanks again!

Great, thanks for the link. Those are great suggestions too. Gary, No worries. The first half of my last response was more to Steve who was wondering what program I used, and I was relating that TablEdit is cool but kind of counter intuitive compared to Finale or Sibelius (if you're used to those programs), meaning buyer be somewhat aware. So I was trying to do a twofer reply and it didn't work exactly Smile
