| that you can simply plug into your pedal steel to drop the power of the pickup down to lower levels so that the front end of the preamp is not being overdriven to distortion levels ? ........ In the same regard , is what I am talking about mearly a volume pot going from the pedal steel to the input of the amp or is there more involved ? ......Thanks, Jim |

| I use a second volume pedal for that. I only need it for some distortion/overdrive boxes such as Duncan Twin Tube. |

| Thanks for the reply ......I go into various modeling amps that I am fooling around with and find that when going into the inputs that the signal is too hot and overdrives the preamp until the tone is too noisy right from the beginning ....I need a simple device to pad down the strength of the signal coming out of the pedal steel before it get's to the volume pedal ....Jim |

edit....now that I look at it again, I see it is a tone control. I am sure something like this is available with a volume control built in. I think it was meant for acoustic guitars with a fishman. Do a search. I know it's there.

In my band we have a suitcase (really!!) full of Behringer DI-100s... they are MOST useful in this regard (two pads available) and have been very reliable for over six years now..
...they can run on phantom power OR an internal 9 volt battery.
