Great to see Bob Hempker's description of tick-tack in Bobbe Seymour's newsletter today. And that's mainly because it's so enjoyable to play steel with that kind of rhythm backing you up IMO.

One thing I didn't notice mentioned is the fact that to play the
instrument in true 'tic tac' fashion, the strings are dampened,
or muffled, near the bridge with the right hand to restrict the
sustain of the notes' length, since it is the 'percussive' leading
edge of the note, in combination with the roundness of the
string bass, that results in the overall combined bass sound.

I am not familiar with the term but I am sure I have heard the style. Could someone post a youtube link to some 'tic tac'

Listen to just about ANY Ray Price shuffle...Or the chromatic walkup on"Crazy"...another characteristic of the tic tac is full on treble...
