I think Norm was only 64 years old. That's hitting it close for me. I remember him well from the Palomino days. I'm FB friends with his brother Glen.

Norm and I were fellow band-members in Gene Watson's, "Farewell Party Band." By the early '80s we, the band, were cutting Gene's records with him and it was Norm who played the great, spanish style, lead parts on Gene's hit, "Carmen." Norm lived down the road from me as well so we did alot of stuff together when we were lucky enough to be in off the road for a few days. We were often going around, looking at fishing boats to buy. He was always trying to convince me to go in on one with him. Well, I've owned bassboats for 25 yrs. now. We often went to a small, Mexican restaurant owned by an older Mexican woman in Arcola, TX. or a tugboat, oyster bar. Man that was some good grub !!! Took his kids out for pizza alot too.

Norm was a great musician and a great friend. I have many, fun memories of him and he will be missed. I pray The Lord may keep him in His loving embrace now. Also that his family may find comfort at this difficult time. We were all like family and I think now of them and Norm.

Sincerely,
Chris "Tiny" Olson

I never had the pleasure of meeting Norm, but when I asked Gene about him last week, he was VERY complimentary of him..... That was all I needed to know. I'm sorry I never had the opportunity to meet or pick with him.... My condolences to his family.
