I read today on Buddy Emmons FB:

Buddy had a fall a few days ago.. I'm told he is banged up a bit and has a broken leg. You folks remember our friend when you say your prayers

Get well soon Buddy.

I wish Buddy well, but why would the prayers of someone who has never known Buddy influence the decisions of the Almighty ? Aren't we asking Him for preferential treatment ?

Alan,

The God I serve will give preferential treatment to anyone his children care about and prays for.... "Ask and you will receive"... As far as knowing him, I was introduced to Buddy Emmons by my Dad when I was a small child through his recordings. Through Scotty had the pleasure of meeting and spending time with him in the eighties when we brought him to Lubbock to do a steel concert... I do believe that prayer matters... And so, I do pray for his complete healing and all the best that life offers... God bless Buddy Emmons!

Buddy, sorry to hear of this mishap. You have been a great inspiration to us all and got me started to play in the 80's when you helped at a Jeff Newman class. You encouraged me even though I have the top end of my index finger on my left hand missing.

I have been praying for you and trust that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will draw you to him and give you a speedy healing. Since his hand is on the sparrow, I know that He cares, and is watching you. It is so encouraging to know that Jesus said that one day, all believers, whether dead or alive, will get new legs, new hands, and actually a brand new body, when he returns to this earth to get us.
Oh how I long to see and hear you play again the instrument you helped to invent.

Regards

Brian Henry

That's the very point I was making. The Forum is no place for sermons. Rolling Eyes

I wish Buddy a speedy recovery. Cool

Alan,

You introduced the topic of prayer and the decisions of the almighty and what would motivate him to act in Buddy's favor. This forum is not just for asking open ended questions and not expecting answers. If you don't ask we won't tell. Besides, God is no respecter of persons. Today I prayed for your salvation, and If you had broken your leg or were unwell I would also pray for your speedy recovery

You're right, Brian. I shouldn't ask open-ended questions and not expect them to generate replies.

I know, I half expected a limerick.

To Mr. Emmons, I wish you a speedy recovery
and if you haven't checked out "The First Family" by Mike Dash, I think you would really enjoy that one! Winking

there once was a steel player from nantucket
who carried his picks in a bucket
but buddy's not dumb
he'd fill it with rum
then trip, break his leg and say..
(fill in the rest!)

heal up fast, buddy!
