Wanted to focus in on Patti Maxine during a "Kanikapila Night" at The Pono Hawaiian Grill, located inside The Reef Lounge in Santa Cruz, California. Patti is a beloved icon of the Santa Cruz music scene. Recently inducted into the "Western Swing Hall of Fame". I snuck up on her as she was playing a loaned Aloha lap steel guitar that she was playing for the first time.

All the tips plus donations from the restaurant and bar were collected to help with the medical expenses of John Koko. John was a much beloved member of "The Makaha Sons". He passed away on 06-25-12.

For those of you who could not attend but want to help, you may send donations to "Friends of John Koko." Address: First Hawaiian Bank, 1111 S. Beretania St. Honolulu, HI 96814 Account # 05121000. John's bills are enormous and this would really help his 'ohana.

On stage were Vern Fernandez from "Huna Wai" and from the group "Ho'omana" we have Edward Navarro on bass, Robert Uncangco guitar and Uncle Manley Bush on left handed slack key guitar.

I am blown away by her, she has a very unique way of blending her style in and yet not over riding the singer. Is she playing in C6th? I'm still way to new a player to know for sure.
