Morten Johansson in Norway wants to puy my Peavey
TransTubeFex but we cannot figure any way to get payment to me. I do not use PayPal to sell; his bank will not issue what we know as a certified check; anyone have a suggestion.
thanks,
Bill |

Bill, I have sent and received money to and from Norway several times. Paypal is the absolute fastest and easiest. I have never had one security glitch. Large or small amounts don't matter. But since you don't do that, here are some other avenues. Note: this works between Norway and Canada, don't know if US banks operate the same way.
Morten can send you an International money order or bank draft via the mail. Your bank might make you wait 3 or 4 weeks pending clearance.
Morten can transfer money via his bank to your bank, He will need your bank name, address and full account number including branch number and short number. This takes time as well as prone to mistake..one wrong digit and you'll have to do it all over again.
Did I mention Paypal?
Morten sends the money to your paypal email address. Presto, you have the money _________________ BenRom Pedal Steel Guitars

Have him wire you the money via Western Union. You can send money anywhere in the world through them. Or, set up a paypal account. It's not hard to do. Having paypal will make future transactions smoother and easier.
Edited for my horrible spelling. It's late.

+1 for Western Union
WESTERN UNION - NORSK
I've used it a couple times for international buyers and it has worked for me (plus the buyer pays all the fees -- you get all your money). |

OR he could get an international bank cheque from his own bank and post it to you ...usually a small fee required by the bank which is charged to the person raising the Int bank cheque ! Just the wait for the mail _________________ 14'Zumsteel Hybrid D10 9+9

I have actually sold a pedal steel to Morten. He's a great guy to deal with. We used Paypal with no problem. It wouldn't take you long to set up to receive payments from Paypal. That is what I would do.
IT takes just a few days to set up. I believe the Paypal fees that the seller has to pay are an additional 1% above what it is for U. S. customer
Good luck,

I've sold to buyers in Japan, Norway, Germany, The Netherlands, Iceland, and England and used the methods Bent mentions. Not a problem except for a bank transfer from Iceland. The bank screwed up, but the buyer got that straightened out and the money eventually came through. For not one of these transactions did I use Paypal. Don't like to hand my money over to those guys if other means are possible.
Ask Morten if Norwegian Post Office will issue an International Money Order. I'm very surprised his bank won't issue an international cashiers check. I lived in Norway for 11 years and never had that problem. Also, ask him to see someone higher up in the bank. The person he healt with might have had it wrong.
Good luck stevet |

A few years ago, I found a fellow in Germany that had some parts I needed for an old Uher tape recorder. I just sent him cash. |

Thanks to all of you who responded. I have a friend near here who buys and sells via Paypal. Morten sent payment to him and he in turn will send to me. The money is already there and I will ship the TTF this afternoon.
I sincerely appreciate the response.

Thanks for all the interest in this transaction. I am happy to report that Morten has received the TTF and is happy; I received payment and I am happy; a contribution has been sent to Bob and he is happy.
So all is well. Thanks. Bill |

if you both open Citibank accounts, that bank is the only one (at least in Australia) which will transfer funds for free
All other banks charge about $30, and the wire service transfers are about $30 too.
Thats a big impost for a $50 pedal, but maybe not so bad for an amp.
The exchange rates are typically unfavourable compared to the official rate on the day as well.
+1 for Paypal, its the easiest and cheapest, I think
If you know anyone with a shop, maybe they will process a Mastercard transaction on your behalf (?!) |

Just set up with PayPal. It's a no brainer. No better method exists that I know of. It's easy, safe, instant. No headaches.
