Well............Apparently there is no Weissenborn forum. So.... I would guess this is the best place to start. There is a dirth of places locally to sample these instruments so I will be forced to purchase on line (Ugh!). I have read reviews on a bunch of these. Don't want to break the bank-let's say less than $900. What do all you experts think is the best bang for the buck?
Thanks, Mike |

don't know about best....but I just bought a Georgeboards solid maple top/laminated rosewoods sides/back for $499 with OHSC and it sounds great...he is sold out at the moment, but just ask him when the next batch will be ready...he has a variety of grades of woods available... _________________ https://www.lostsailorspdx.com

You might be able to get into a solid mahogany Gold Tone for pretty close to your target price. They are definitely worth looking at - I was impressed by one I saw in a store awhile back. I do have one the the solid mahogany George Boards instruments kicking around and it certainly will get you started.
There are some Weissenborn enthusiasts on www.resohangout.com, and there are even a couple of dedicated Weissenborn groups on there. |

One of these days I want to get a Weissenborn ... I have seen some videos and that woody/acoustic tone really resonates with me ... there is a guy in close proximity to where I live that makes them:

Now I just have to figure out how to finance this plan ... I may be putting one of my electric guitars up for sale ... hmmmm ... ![Cool](images/smiles/icon_cool.gif) _________________ -- Rick

About a year or two ago, someone here was posting about a pretty good quality, low cost Weissenborn. Perhaps Chinese or Korean made? I can't recall much about it but maybe someone else here will...? _________________ www.JimCohen.com

Some years ago I bought a Superior Weissenborn from Burkley Music and I am well satisfied. |
