Reliability problems are the reason for the demise of the 'Steel King/Jazz King' series of amps. More than one dealer stopped stocking them due to quality control issues. I personally know two players who had Steel Kings suddenly quit working while playing gigs and who eventually sold them at a considerable loss. |

I must be the odd duck. The ONLY problem I've had with my Steel King are broken pot shafts. I've been able to order the parts from my local Fender service center. And Sam Marshall at Fender has been nothing but great in helping get the parts I need. My Steel King is STILL one of the BEST sounding amps I've played thru!!! My amp sounds as good as it did 6 years ago when I got it!!! |

I second your opinion Jerry...love both my steel kings. Never had a moments trouble out of either one. One of the best steel amps i've ever played through. Had a choice at a jam between a steel king, and an expensive boutique tube guitar amp...i jumped in front of the steel king.....glad i did. |

I have also had my steel king for 6 yrs with no problems. My only complaint is it is sometimes hard to tame the harsh highs. But once you get it dialed end its purty good. Better than my nashville 1000. |

Never had a single problem with mine. I replaced the original speaker with the BW 1501-4. Great amp! If someone is selling them at a loss, I will buy them! Let me know... |

Steel King is the best sounding amp, bar none. Only one dealer I know of stopped carrying Fenders, and it was because of the Custom Twin 15", not because of the Steel King.
FWIW, Eminence made the 15" speaker that is in the Steel King and I believe it is still in production and available from them directly (under their model name). |
