Up for sale is a Vega Dual Grande. The volume pot dates to 1950; the 1949 Vega catalog shows it without the push-button controls, so this is probably one of the first to feature them. Instead of a conventional tone pot, you have your choice of six different capacitor/resistor combinations (see photos). "Norm" goes straight to the jack without any roll-off; naturally, since this is all passive circuitry, there's some volume reduction as you move away from "Norm". Still, the single-coil pickups don't put out much hum and the the buttons actually do provide a nice range of tones. They remind me of very old cash registers because they make a loud "ka-thunk" noise as you press them.

The guitar appears to be all original save for the added decoration on the front. Vega instruments always showed great craftsmanship and materials, as is exhibited by the use of mahogany where the sun don't shine (I was half expecting a cheaper wood like birch) and tuners that I think are Grovers. The guitar comes with its original case and legs (in excellent condition), and it's surprisingly light for its size.

I'm asking $SOLD including Paypal and shipping in the continental US.

There's a felt-lined cover over the bottom which I removed for these pics:

So far two Ebay buyers have backed out because they couldn't pay, so it's still for sale.

I have one of those (it's a couple of years older than yours, I think) and it's a great-sounding, well-made guitar. So here's a bump!
