Hi Patrick, maybe you've gone ahead and got the book by now. I would say it's worth having as it's pretty good value, the backing tracks are OK and it features some popular tunes not covered by other courses.
Most of us learn lots of licks and scales and maybe some instrumentals with nice counterpoint or hot picking. This book concentrates on playing simple, well known melodies. It made me realise how bad I am at picking out a tune! As an intermediate player you will find the tab very easy, but can you sit down at your guitar and pick out the melody to Let It Be or Love Me Tender? When I got the book I got a rude awakening as to how bad I was at this basic skill. I suggest you glance at the tab to get the rough position and then try to play by ear - in this respect the book is a great exercise.
On the negative side some of the timing is like he's never listened to the Beatles or CCR. And you are not going to get accurately tabbed out solos, this is a learn the melody book. |
