I got the sad news that Bobby Chatfield passed away today (7/9/12) after a short bout with cancer. He was one of the first real professionals I played with all those years ago and I owe him a lot

I bought my first steel guitar from him almost 26 years ago when he had his store in Springfield Missouri. What a great man and player he was. I am so sad to hear of this. My prayers go out to the family.

I became acquainted with Bobby when he helped Scotty during the annual conventions. He shared with me his CD's and tapes that I so much admired since he played classic country on steel guitar as well as any player has. Most of all, Bobby was a sincere humble person who I am proud to have known as a friend. May he rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear of Bobby's passing. I first met him many years ago when he owned a music store in Springfield, MO. What a nice man and a fine pedal steel player. If I am not mistaken, he played with the great Jim Reeves at one time. Rest in peace my friend. May God comfort his family.

I knew Bobby quite well. We used to exchange stock between our stores many years ago. As time went by I realized that he had a lot musician friends that he had played for and with and they were all top name peole. He did help me at our booth at the Convention for many years. You can count him among the top most respected person in the Steel Guitar World. He will be sadly missed. Scotty
