What's a fair price for a Session 500? I have one that I've had since new in '79. I want to sell this beast because I don't want to lift it anymore!

Jeff, the price really depends on it's history. For example, has it been serviced in the last few years. 30+ year old capacitors are prone to fail and should be replaced. Having had a good tech give it a check-up would be important to a prospective buyer.

Also some pictures would be very helpful to a buyer to see the overall condition of the amp.

As to price, if it's in great condition, I'd say a fair price would be around $400 to $450.

But without a recent service check-up, and no pics, you'd probably get no more than $200, at best. That's because the buyer is taking the risk that it might need some expensive repairs before it can be made reliable. Realistically speaking, many buyers would just pass on it if this were the case.

Just my humble opinion, though.
